Day 16 - Forget Resolutions, Create Permanent Solutions

Today's task: Look for sugar that isn't called sugar and avoid it. Read the labels on everything you eat today and look for the following words (all of which mean that it's some form of added processed sugar):

  • acesulfame potassium / Sunnett / Sweet One

  • aspartame / Equal / Nutrasweet (blue packets)

  • corn syrup

  • high fructose corn syrup 

  • neotame

  • sucralose / Splenda (yellow packets)

  • saccharin / SugarTwin / Sweet 'N Low (pink packets


*Hint: condiments, sodas, teas, "fruit" drinks, sugar-free, etc. are the biggest users of these artificial sweeteners, but even items like soups and tortillas use them. You will be very surprised at all of the foods you thought were perfectly healthy that contain these. If you've been "eating healthy" without seeing results, the hidden stuff is what's keeping you from your goals. 


To make this a permanent solution: Regularly check the labels of food BEFORE you buy it. Stay away from anything on the list above. Warning: it is sometimes difficult to find the food you're looking for without these sweeteners. If that's the case, step back and ask if this is even a food you should be eating in the first place...
