To make this a permanent solution: Do this everyday, every time you park, even when it's raining (pack an umbrella).
Why: Adding a parking lot walk each day is a great way to burn a few extra calories & energize your body. The more you do it, the less taxing on your body it will be. Besides, there are plenty of people out there that NEED a closer parking space due to physical limitations. Leave the close spots for them. Be grateful you have the ability to walk a full parking lot on two healthy legs.
